The southern Dallas County community of Wilmer has been one of the fastest growth warehouse and distribution centers in the state.
Developers have put up millions of square feet of new warehouses in the city along Interstate 45. Now builders are adding more residential and retail construction to support the new jobs in the area.
Construction will start next week on the first phase of a 100-acre Liberty Crossing community on Interstate 45 between Mars and Belt Line roads. The Emli at Liberty Crossing project will include 240 rental units in 10 buildings.
There's also a business center, swimming pool, pet park and fitness center in the apartment project.
"With Wilmer continuing to add hundreds of new jobs, we have needed additional housing for Wilmer's workforce," David Miracle, Executive Director of Wilmer Economic Development, said in a statement. "Liberty Crossing, as it develops, will also provide retail and healthcare amenities that will benefit the entire community."
Wilmer's economic development department is providing incentives for the new apartment project.
