Retail Analysis confirms Wilmer’s retail opportunity
October 31, 2017
According to October 2017 Catalyst Retail Assessment, WIlmer's retail market is ready for development.
"Our area has been under-served for years," said Executive Director David Miracle, Wilmer Economic Development. "Add in the recent industrial growth along Interstate 45, and we are experiencing a severe shortage of retail services."
Wilmer's Primary Trade Area (PTA) encompasses the I-45 corridor from Interstate 20 to the north, and Palmer to the south including portions of Lancaster, Ferris, and southern Dallas. That population is expected to grow to almost 30,000 over the next ten years. Daytime population has also increased.
"Wilmer's Union Pacific's Intermodal Facility has put Wilmer on the map as a logistics hub," Miracle said, "and to attract that kind of growth, we offer an attractive package of incentives and one of the lowest tax rates in the region."
Wilmer's major employers include:
- Proctor & Gamble Distribution Center
- Unilever Shippers Warehouse
- Whirlpool Distribution Center
- Ace Hardware Distribution Center
- Sprouts Farmers Market Distribution Center
- Medline Industries
- Makita USA
- Port-A-Cool Distribution Center
